Dear Narcoossee Middle School Family,
It is hard to believe that I am about to start my third full year as the principal of NCMS. The last couple of years, we have navigated different challenges as a school, but we have also experienced a great amount of success. Last year, NCMS became an A school for the first time in five years, and now we are extremely happy to report that we remain an A school at the end of the 2024-2025 academic year! It is a direct result of the commitment we have to our students because we know how education impacts their future. Even though we are proud of being a high-performing school, we are equally proud of all the different programs offered at NCMS. We have a robust PBIS program that rewards students whenever they are meeting our BEARS expectations: Be Responsible, Encourage Others, Act Safely, Respect All, and Strive for Success. Throughout the year, students can use their Bear Bucks to purchase items from the BEAR store and to gain entry to different student activities. Last year, our PBIS team was able to sponsor a “Soccer Penalty Shootout”, “Karaoke”, “Student Social Hour”, “FAST Fest Carnival”, among many other events. Additionally, we are proud of all our sports offerings and the different athletic accomplishments. Our Black Bears are student athletes, and they work hard inside, as well as outside the classroom. Moreover, we have an incredible Band program that has been extremely successful and keeps getting better. It is so successful that we had to change our concert venue! Also, we still offer Orchestra, Robotics, Battle of the Books, Odyssey of the Mind, and a Mathematics competition team. In addition to finishing another strong year as an AVID Demonstration school. This year, we continue to be committed to AVID and look forward to recertification. Last year was amazing, but we are always looking forward. We reflected on what we could have done better and how it could be improved this upcoming year. My first year as principal, I set the goal of Narcoossee Middle School being an A school, and this year, my goal is to take Narcoossee Middle School to reach its highest potential. We started our journey by “Building and Nurturing our Community Together”, then we were “One Family Growing and Learning Together”, and now our journey takes us to “One Family, One Community, taking our Black Bears to new Heights”.
Sincerely,
Dr. Francisco Rivera Mieles Principal of Narcoossee Middle School
