Principal’s Message

Hello NCMS Parents/Guardians,
I hope you had a restful holiday season and were able to spend quality time with family and friends. At NCMS, we had a very exciting first part of the year, which was filled with concerts, sports, author visits, high school presentations, and PBIS events that encouraged our students to follow our BEARS (Be Responsible, Encourage Others, Act Safely, Respect All, and Strive for Success) expectations. As we begin our second semester, we are excited to see the results of our PM2 FAST data in both English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. The data indicate that we are in a stronger position now than we were at this point last year. It is a testament to the hard work our students do every day, and to our commitment to you to always have high expectations for both our students and staff. In addition to having those high expectations in our core classes, these expectations also extend to all our electives and programs. It is powerful to see our students excel in academic courses, as well as in the arts and sports, whenever we see them performing at a concert or playing hard on the court. Additionally, as an AVID demonstration school, we continue to strive for excellence in our AVID program, as it is in the best interest of our students. Our AVID teachers work diligently every day to prepare our students for college and career readiness, and our classroom teachers utilize AVID strategies because they support our students in achieving mastery of the standards. At the beginning of the year, we set out to take our Black Bears to New Heights, and I’m excited to report that we are on our way.
