Principal’s Message

Hello NCMS Community,

For the 2026-2027 academic year, our school theme is “Growing to Infinity and Beyond”. At NCMS, we recognize that each academic journey is personal, and we want to tailor our systems and processes to ensure every student meets their goals. During the summer, we have been reflecting on those systems and processes to understand how we can make them more efficient to better serve our students. We will continue to build on the success of the 2025-2026 school year, in which we increased our school grade by 20 points, earning an A rating for the third consecutive school year. In addition, we revalidated as an AVID National Demonstration School, incorporated more arts and performing arts programs, started a new ACCESS Supported Hub, won two sports championships, and were successful at academic competitions. Last year, we were “Taking Our Black Bears to New Heights”, but this year we will be “Growing to infinity and Beyond” because in order to succeed, you must grow!

Testimonials

Avid Student

"When I came to NCMS in 6th grade, I chose to apply for AVID. I’ve been three years in the program now, and I can honestly say it was a huge UPGRADE for me! You gain so many benefits from participating in AVID; organization, better social skills, and confidence. AVID gives you a stronger backbone to your education, and you never have to worry about being prepared because you have an entire community in AVID helping you succeed. The bonds you form in AVID stay with you all through middle school, and you always feel like you have many shoulders to lean on. AVID takes you beyond just the basics and connects you to the real world by sparking your dreams of your future." By: Anabella Turmero - 8th grade AVID @ NCMS

Band Student

"I'm Kayden, an euphonium player. My love for band started from hearing my friends and parents play cool music, which made me want to play even cooler music. Back in 7th grade, I didn't even see myself playing an instrument until summer break. When my dad begged me, and my mom still had her flute from her high school. Then I was placed in beginning band, and the first few weeks Ms. Hawkins had taught me and my classmates what each note, clef, and instrument is. And then we had our instrument try-out night. I did amazing on every instrument, but the euphonium held something special to me. The possibilities, tone quality, I loved it, so when we got to select our instruments, I chose it. Over the school year I learned notes, songs, and even played at my first ever concert! Ms. Hawkins has a special way of teaching and it's one the best I've ever seen. She knows how to teach, progressing kid's skills while still have tons of fun. " Kayden Shaw - 8th Grade Beginning Band student

Band Student-2

"Band is a great place to be. Every time I walk in this classroom, a surge of joy appears in my heart, honestly! As soon as I played the first notes on my instruments, I was in love, and I hope that for generations to come, that love for music and creativity never dies. At my first concert I was so nervous, but as I played, I felt so alive. It was a feeling so strong it practically burst out of my heart, singing for joy. If you ever see someone in a band playing their instrument, just know that the very instrument in their hand could've been their first love." Olivya Gonzalez - 7th Grade Band Student

LIA

We like being part of Latinos in Action (LIA) because here, "You Belong". We get to meet students from different cultures, not just Latinos. Also, LIA helps you express yourself, and it gives you courage. It helps you build your leadership skills, and in LIA, everyone is family. Isabella Landaeta (President of Latinos in Action) and Santiago Colmenares (Vice-President of Latinos in Action)

Art

I love art at NCMS because they have all the materials that I need. I also love that it is a free place where I can express myself since art comes easily to me. In addition, Mr. Gonzalez is awesome because he gives me tips to get better. Everyone should go to art because it is really fun. Gabriela Diaz Ginebra - 6th Grade Art Student
